Yelo are proposing the demolition of an existing bungalow and the erection of a 3 storey, 8 unit building. The building houses 6 one bedroom units and 2 two bedroom units, of which at least 3 will be considered affordable, responding to the need for more affordable homes in the area. All of the flats will be accessed via the same entrance and share a communal core.
To the front of the building will be 5 allocated parking spaces for the future occupiers. The rear of the site will remain undeveloped and provide 3 landscaped gardens for the ground floor flats.
The scale and materiality of the proposal are designed to be sympathetic to its surroundings and neighbouring properties whilst offering a contemporary exterior finish and internal arrangement for residents. Though formed of three storeys the gabled roof and relatively low eaves ensure the building will sit neatly in the site and not dominate its neighbours. In terms of the external facade hit and miss brick detailing will echo the variety of interesting brick patterns present on Albany Road, as will the mix of red and buff brick colours.
