As it is the CIH South East Conference #SEConf2015 this week we thought we would start it off by showing you our current affordable housing projects.

Newtown road

Our Newtown Road scheme in Hove for The Hyde Group replaces the existing warehouses situated on the corner of Newtown Road and Goldstone Lane with a mixed use development. The new scheme contains high quality office space, 59 apartments and 6 family houses.

Residents will also benefit from 2 large landscaped outdoor amenity spaces, including a private resident’s landscaped communal garden. A basement car-park will provide residents parking and cycle spaces.

251-253 Preston Road

This picturesque and well located site near the station is located in the Preston Park Conservation Area and is characterised by two fine Victorian Villas surrounded by extensive gardens. The site has been derelict since 2012.
Our proposals for Southern Housing Group involve the redevelopment of the site providing 32 high quality and sustainable new dwellings in a range of sizes and to include 40% affordable housing provision. The proposals include the sensitive refurbishment of the existing Victorian villas, construction of a new apartment block and 7 family houses designed to compliment the existing buildings.

A generous landscaped amenity space has been provided in front of the apartments in addition to  large front gardens for the houses, improving the outlook and existing street scene for all residents.  Again we worke
d with landscape architect Nicholas Dexter to
preserve and enhance the character of this important and prominent site.

One Hove park

One Hove Park is a 71 unit scheme for The Hyde Group and is due for completion in April 2015.  The site had had been vacant since 2007 and
two previous planning applications by another architectural practice had been refused. Ye
lo were thrilled to win planning consent on the first attempt.

Having known the site for a number of years we took a different angle than the previous architects. Our proposal was highly site specific and focused towards providing a sensitive response to its setting. We worked with award winning landscape designer Nicholas Dexter to create a major feature of the scheme with both individual gardens and a stunning communal garden.

Vega Building Phase 2

The scheme for Southern Housing Group, located in Hove is a three storey mixed use building in a similar style to that which was consented in the 2011 application. The proposed scheme consists of a large office space on the ground floor with 8 flats (4×1 bed, 4×2 bed) over the first and second floors.
