Brunswick Terrace

Brunswick Terrace, Hove
Client: Private
Status: In progress

Brunswick Terrace is a Grade I listed building found in Hove with a rich history. Once a 5 storey house it was the home of Phillip Salomons, a Jewish financier, who built a private synagogue on top sometime in the 1850s/60s (wikipedia article), adding an extra floor. Since then the house has been split into flats, and Yelo were approached with the task of transforming the top floor, which has been given its own Grade II status, into a single contemporary residence.

We aimed to retain the historic character of the building. The cupola of the ex-synagogue is a feature we are renovating and incorporating into the new build. Architectural features, such as the windows and door details, are all being restored or reinstated. The layout is designed so that upon entering the flat you are immediately met with a sense of light and space.
