Brighton and Hove have a rich history, and after our tour of the Regency Town House we found out just how rich! The house is a Grade I listed building built in the 1820s and is is being meticulously restored to its former glory, with an incredible amount of detail, by a team of dedicated volunteers. The tour took us through the development of Brighton in the 19th century, with the house being erected alongside many others within Brunswick Square to accommodate the growing masses of the London elite as they came to the growingly popular seaside town. Learning how the mentality of the high class and architects shaped the features of the house was fascinating and will be a great help in the projects we have involving listed buildings with a rich history – see Brunswick Terrace.
It was a great experience, something that we would recommend to everyone, especially those with any level of interest in history, Brighton, and/or architecture. The team at The Regency Town House are phenomenal!
